Help us raise $130K by the end of Ramadan. The donations are spent on utilities, maintenance, salaries, dawah, and insurance. IONA’s annual budget is $300,000. Helping us meet the demands of the community is greatly appreciated.

Zakatul Mal

Collected and strictly distributed to the poor, needy, and any zakat eligible person or cause in our local community

Zakatul Fitr or Fitra

Fitra is $10.00 per person per household. Fitra money has to be paid before the day of Eid ul Fitr. The money collected goes to poor and needy people in our local community.

Important Dates for Ramadan 1440 (2019)

Sunday, May 5: First night of Taraweeh (20 rak’ahs) will start shortly after Isha prayer at 10:10 PM followed by the congregational salat-ul-witr.
Monday, May 6: First day of Ramadan (According to the Fiqh Council of North America)*

Saturday, May 25: I’tikaf (retreat) begins. Brothers intending to do I’tikaf during the last 10 nights of Ramadan need to register ahead of time. Friday, May 31 (Ramadan 27th Night): IONA Expansion Fundraising
Friday, May 31 (Ramadan 27th Night): Khatm al-Qur’an. A host of speakers and Imams are invited.
Tuesday, June 4 (Shawwal 1): Eid al-Fitr (According to the Fiqh Council of North America)*. We will organize two Eid prayers. First prayer will be at 8am and the second at 10am. Takbeerat start 30 minutes prior to the prayers.

Kindly, please note and observe the following during Ramadan:

  1. Zakatul-Fitr (Fitra) is $12 per person. MUST be paid before Eid day.
  2. Islamic organizations will be raising funds on Saturdays and Sundays. Presenters will have 10 minutes after Isha prayer to talk about their project(s) and raise funds.
  3. Please refrain from bringing water bottles to the prayer areas. Adequate water will be provided in designated areas in addition to the drinking fountains available near the wudu’ areas of both the sisters and the brothers.
  4. Please DO NOT bring any type of food or drink to the masjid at any time. IONA has arranged for Iftar dinners on Fridays and Saturdays. On weekdays, however, IONA is pleased to provide dates and water to break the fast prior to praying Maghrib.
  5. Parents are responsible to keep their children quiet at all times
  6. Please park ONLY in the designated areas. We will be, in sha Allah, enforcing strict parking and illegally parked cars will be towed away at owner’s expense.
  7. Please place your shoes on the shoe racks. Absolutely no shoes in the foyer area by the social hall and men’s entrances. Shoes left on the floor will be placed in a lost & found box.
